Why are these solar collectors so good?

In recent years we have already installed various systems for heating swimming pools with solar energy.

The first product we sold were EPDM mats and the SUN+ systems (polyester trays with EPDM mats in it), the 2nd system the IPESOL solar collectors. We have discontinued both products due to quality problems and poor returns.

Blozoen's solar domes have a high efficiency. There are many reasons, but these are the main ones:

  • very accurate and fine control, the control can be very finely adjusted, so you get every ray of sunshine in your pool
  • high efficiency 76%, no heat exchanger, a heat exchanger always causes a loss

According to an independent energy study carried out for the Denayer Institute, Blozoen's collectors are the most energy-efficient application for heating large swimming pools with renewable energy (76% efficiency).

  • most sustainable choice, heating costs next to nothing – payback time is only 5J on average
  • by working with a separate circulation pump, the pool heating can heat up the pool water independently of the filter system

How many Blozoen solar collectors do I need?

The general rule is that for swimming pools u 1/3 of the surface of the pool need in solar collectors to keep your pool at the right temperature during the pool season (end of April to end of September). Each solar collector has a useful surface of 4.64m². Example:

  • swimming pool of 10 x 4
    • surface pool 40m²
    • 1/3 = 13.3m²
  • surface Blozoen solar collector
    • 4.6sqm
    • 13.3 / 4.6 = 2.8 pcs
    • rounded 3 solar collectors

Easy installation

Blozoen's solar collectors are installed via the Tichelmann system With a separate suction pipe for the filter pump and return pipe with hot water after the filter installation, the sustainable pool heating with collectors can work separately from the pool filtration.

Installation is best on a flat roof. Due to its specific shape, there is an efficient distribution of the weight and it can even be placed on a roof of a carport. On the other hand, you do not have to glue or screw the solar collectors to the roof, so there is no risk of leaks. There is no danger of the collectors coming loose even in heavy wind or storms, which can be the case with panels or EPDM mats.

Superior quality and warranty

Why are these collectors now better than other solar collectors or pool heaters? These are for us decisive arguments:

  • proven track record – already more than 30J produced and used for sustainable swimming pool water heating
  • 10 year warranty – no other pool heater gives a 10-year warranty on its product
  • positive references – individuals where we installed the system are UNANIMOUSLY POSITIVE!
  • easy installation – little technical product, no (very little) electronics, PE plastic (also used for drinking water pipes or in homes)
  • professional quality – it is not for nothing that these collectors are regularly used for public swimming pools

How much can you save with sustainable pool heating?

With a swimming pool heating on solar energy, you can heat up your swimming pool water almost free of charge. The pump for circulating the pool water through the tubes of the collector is a 0.25pK – 0.5pK pump. This barely consumes 150 – 250 € electricity per year.

With a heat pump your pool heating quickly 1250 – 1500 € electricity costs, with a gas heating 1750 – 2250 € / year. These are estimates for a 10 x 4 swimming pool during a season from May to September, covered with a shutter.

Are there any disadvantages to a solar pool heating?

The most obvious disadvantage of a sustainable pool heating based on the sun is of course the need for sun. However, if you consider that you will mainly swim when it is warm enough outside and preferably when it is sunny, we notice with our customers that this is actually not such a big disadvantage.
