Photometers for public and private pool water analysis. With these photometers you measure pH, Chlorine, Alkalinity and Cyanuric acid in the water of your swimming pool.

Photometers for public swimming pools

For public swimming pools, the Vlarem legislation requires that the pH and chlorine value of the swimming pool water is checked very regularly. This swimming pool water analysis is generally done with a photometer.

Goal

By measuring the water with a photometer, you can measure the absolute pool values at all times. You should do this regularly if no automatic water treatment is provided.

At one automatic water treatment you can measure manually if in doubt => namely rule out whether the probe is defective and needs to be replaced.

Main parameters

  • pH value: between 7.0 & 7.4
  • Alkalinity: between 100 & 200 PPM → only to be adjusted in case of pH fluctuations
  • Free Chlorine Value: 1PPM for private pools up to 3PPM for public pools
  • (Calcium) hardness: desired is around 200mg/L.
  • Cyanuric Acid: < 50mg/L With an automatic water treatment you do not have to adjust this yourself.

Advantages

  • Digital display of the measurement, no interpretation of test strips or colors.
  • Quick and efficient
  • More accurate than test strips or test kits
  • available per parameter

What is a Photometer?

A photometer works based on the brightness in the device. First you take a sample of the water to be tested so that the device has a zero value. Then you have to add reagents to the sample so that the device can observe this reaction. This way you get a very reliable measurement. The disadvantage of this method of measuring is that you have to do everything exactly right. A greasy finger on a cuvette can already influence the measurement.
