The type 1002 Solabsorb solar collector panel is the end panel with collector tube, when you make a solar heating system with more than 2 solar collectors below each other. The photos show the recommended construction.

Solar pool heating with a 5-year warranty

The HDPE solar panel for heating your swimming pool water is of very high quality and made in Germany. HPDE is a very inert and durable material. It is unbreakable and therefore ensures a very long life. There is a 5-year warranty on the solar collector.

Construction and installation of the solar collector

TYPE 1002 in 1 line

The Solabsorb solar collectors type 1002 are used for solar systems in 1 line or several lines of solar collectors in parallel. There are 4 x 38mm connectors. So you place these type 1002 OKU solar collectors one after the other and you can connect them without an intermediate panel. So there are 4 ends with diameter 38mm and they can be linked together with the EPDM sleeves of 38mm . It is simply constructed and assembled with very durable and indestructible high-quality parts.

You can use the OKU solar collector system both position horizontally and vertically. You use the Solarsorb panel type 1002 if, for example, you want to make 1 long row, so without between panels (type 1001).

The assembly requires some dexterity. It is a solar pool heater for the handy do-it-yourselfer. First you fix the solar collector on the roof with universal roof hooks. Then reinforce the attachment with stainless steel or Galvanized fasteners. Openings are provided on the side of the collector for this purpose.

How many solar collectors do you need

The amount strongly depends on the location of your swimming pool, the type of cover on your swimming pool, how long you wish to swim and what temperature you wish. We always advise to provide extra solar collectors for comfortable heating. A useful rule is 1/2 of the water surface of your pool.

EXAMPLE CALCULATION NUMBER OF SOLAR COLLECTORS :

• swimming pool of 8 x 4 = 32 m²
• 1/2 of 32 m² = 16 m²
• 1 soabsorb OKU solar collector is 1.05 m²
• you therefore need 15 solar collectors

The pool water temperature you can achieve with this number is 28°C during the summer season.

If you have a SOLAR roller shutter and, for example, a swimming pool that is insulated, this will be more than sufficient. For example, if you only use a summer cover and the swimming pool is not insulated, you will need more. In the spring of March/April you will have to circulate the pump for more hours to reach this temperature than in the months of July/August.

The advantage is the free heating of your swimming pool water, the disadvantage is the dependence on the sun. If you want the certainty of swimming pool water with a temperature of 28°C independent of the sun, you can opt for one heat pump.

Control with 3-way valve or circulation pump

There are 2 mounting systems. The first is mounting and control with a Praher automatic 3-way valve. If the temperature in the collector is higher than the pool water, this 3-way valve will send the pool water through your solar collectors. The advantage is simpler control of the existing filter installation. The disadvantage is that you can only heat when the filter pump is working. If you want to heat for longer, you have to let the filter pump circulate longer, which results in a higher electricity consumption.

TIP : provide a bypass over the 3-way tap, so you can arrange that not the full water flow of your filter pump pumps the water through the collectors.

A second method is with a separate circulation pump. You can therefore heat independently of the filter pump, even when the filter pump is not filtering, for example. The advantage of this system is the separate control and the lower consumption of the small circulation pump. The downside is the complicated installation. You will have to ensure that non-return valves are used to prevent the swimming pool water from flowing in the wrong direction through the installation.
