pH plus 5kg granules – powder for raising the pH of swimming pool water

To properly disinfect the chlorine in swimming pool water, the pH value or also the acidity of the swimming pool water must be adjusted to 7,2 – 7,4. You can increase pH with pH plus 5kg granulate powder. (Sodium bicarbonate )

How much should I dose?

For increasing the acidity of your swimming pool water with 0.2 units you need 150g/10m³ water dosing. A calculation example:

• pool of 50m³ water with a pH value of 6.8
• we want to adjust the pH value to 7.2 = 0.4 units
• 0.4 = 2 x 0.2 = 2 x 150g/10m³ = 300g / 10m³ = (x5) 1500g / 50m³
• to increase the pH value by 0.4 units in a swimming pool with 50m³ of water, you therefore need 1.5kg of pH plus powder.

How does alkalinity affect pool water pH?

The alkalinity = the buffering capacity of the swimming pool water

• the higher the alkalinity of the pool water, the stronger the buffering capacity, the more pH plus powder you will need. So you may need almost double the recommended amount!
• the lower the alkalinity of the swimming pool water, the weaker the buffering capacity of your swimming pool water and the faster you will be able to influence the pH value / acidity. It is therefore also possible that you need SOMETHING less pH plus granulate.

Wouldn't it be better to use liquid pH plus?

Keep in mind that in trade also very much liquid pH plus and min is available in small packages. Do not buy this, usually the product is very diluted and you are better off with powder. However, if you have one automatic pool water treatment, use liquid pH plus – sodium hydroxide.

What does pH mean?
