1) Passive winterization of the swimming pool.

First step: cleaning and adding winterfit products

  • Clean the pool with a pool robot and the edges perfectly clean with products and a brush. (HTH Edge cleaningr)
  • Leave it water bags to below the skimmer. So suck in your swimming pool water through the bottom suction and close the tap of the skimmers to prevent air from being sucked in. If you do not have a bottom vane suction you can use a submersible pump. Make sure there is no more water in the skimmer to prevent it from freezing. The pool water level will rise again due to the rain during the winter period. Check this regularly and make sure that your skimmer does not freeze to pieces. You can protect your skimmer with a gizzmo in the skimmer opening under the skimmer basket. A cheap alternative is a plastic bottle with sand in it, a piece of insulation or a tennis ball. This makes the swimming pool perfectly ready for winter.
  • Joint wintering product to the pool water. (AQT winter fit)
  • Let the water run circulate around for 5 hoursn suction through the bottom. If you don't have one, you must first add product, then circulate and then empty with a submersible pump.
  • Switch your electrical cabinet or control uit.
  • The winter net can be stretched over the pool :

WARNING! Beware of groundwater. Groundwater can end up behind the liner through a non-watertight tub when the water has receded. If you have a monobloc polyester pool, it can be pushed up by the groundwater pressure.

Step two: Protect your installation and winterize your pool

Prepare the swimming pool for winter, empty the filter pump

  • Leave your pool filter pump and drain the filter if they are in a room where it can freeze. This can be done by opening the drain point at the bottom of the pump and filter. Turn it back in afterwards, so you avoid having to search next year. When emptying, make sure that the taps of the swimming pool are closed if your installation is lower than the water level in the swimming pool, otherwise your swimming pool will empty.
  • If you have a heat pump, close the by-pass taps and disconnect the heat pump so that it can drain. Place a tarp over the pump to protect it.
  • Now you can provide floats, bottles or something else diagonally (with a rope) in the pool that also absorbs the pressure of the ice in the pool and does not end up on the edge of the pool.
  • Do not leave the summer cover closed because it will freeze to pieces.
  • It is best to leave the roller shutter open during the winter to extend its lifespan.
  • To prevent animals or dirt from entering your bath, it is best to provide a reinforced winter net over the pool surface. This is easy to manipulate, an aesthetic solution and allows water to pass through. Blisters and animals are stopped.

How should the ball valves of the bypass be placed in summer and winter?

It is best to disconnect the heat pump for the winter. To NOT let the water through the pool heat pump to flow, you must close the BY-PASS. If you move the 3 ball valves, TO and BACK of the heat pump closed and the ball valve to the pool OPEN then no more water will flow to the heat pump.

This is sufficient to provide minimal water treatment and to prevent freezing. If you heat pump you cannot do this as your heat pump does not work below 5°C. (with the exception of some types - ask the manufacturer). Then it is best to let the pump circulate a little more.
